The last few years have seen a drastic transformation of the dynamics in Latin America’s petrochemical and chemical industries. The shale gas revolution in the United States, and the subsequent investment wave that followed, is already generating sizeable flows of product toward Latin American markets. While regional demand is expected to remain solid, Latin America’s petrochemical industry has not been able to develop accordingly due to a variety of factors including political and economic instability, the volatility of oil and gas prices, and infrastructure bottlenecks.
