What have been some of the most important updates from Normet over the last 12 months?

Our HD Bolt is a great innovation for the industry by providing quick visual loading indications visible to all. It improves safety and lowers costs, particularly as mines go deeper and become more geotechnically challenging. We continue to evolve our SmartDrive Equipment to leverage improving technologies, keeping Normet at the forefront of innovation. We are seeing growing customer interest in both our Connected Solutions and Simulator Solutions because they address critical needs for efficiency, insight and performance improvement.

How does Normet help clients as mines go further underground?

As mines get deeper, we encounter additional safety and economic challenges. Concrete spraying systems for support, injection resins for water control and advanced rock reinforcement products offer solutions where conventional methods and products may no longer be suitable. Normet’s equipment is designed to support deeper mining environments, where access, haulage distances, ramp lengths, and complexity escalate. The Charmec Revo removes the operator from the face by utilizing a robotic arm, and we are the first to offer autonomous rock-breaking systems through Xrock Autobreaker, which uses real-time cameras and sensors to optimize ore flow.

How does the company champion sustainability with its products and equipment?

Normet equipment and chemicals last longer, perform reliably and need fewer replacements. This means reduced material consumption, manufacturing emissions and waste. Products are designed for performance, using less fuel, energy and raw materials to deliver optimal results. One example of this is our L-Series Platform: with over 100 units delivered, we have proven that the automatic retarder control increases axle lifetime. In our XL-Series platform, the XL1100 uses 40% less fuel per cubic meter compared to the LF700.

I think what is less well known is that Nomet can help our customers with process improvements. We also offer low-carbon alternatives to traditional concrete mixtures. Concrete is one of the largest contributors to CO2 generation in many mining and tunneling operations. The solutions and support we offer are helping our customers achieve their sustainability commitments.

What are some of the challenges Normet has faced in the last year?

There has been a constantly evolving geopolitical landscape, making imports and exports more challenging than they were in previous years. This has been especially pressing in the US, where changing policies affect all operators. In Canada, this has been steadier, but trying to understand how we can support the execution of critical minerals strategies while navigating increasing regulatory complexity has been challenging.

Can you detail the work that Normet is doing at Hermosa for South32?

With South32, we are focused on leveraging proven technology and community involvement. Hermosa allows Normet to demonstrate leadership in the industry through our SmartDrive battery electric technology and connected applications, which will support a remote operations center. We will work with South32 to develop local skillsets and provide employment opportunities.

What are your plans to grow Normet in North America in the next year?

We continually look to expand our offerings and portfolio to meet the needs of our customers. Our developments are guided by our technology roadmap, and we continue to make strategic investments that support the advancement of advanced mining and tunneling solutions.

North America is a focus area in our global growth strategy. Regionally, we are focusing on improving our proximity to customers. Internally, we are improving the employee experience, making Normet a great place to work. Attracting and retaining top talent in a competitive environment, where employees are choosing their employers, is key to providing exceptional value, improving service quality, driving innovation and building lasting relationships with our customers.
